how write an essay-part 1
to write an essay there are some rules and standards that we should follow them to write a good essay in English. one of the good guides is presented by Simon. he suggests writing an essay for IELTS exam in 4 paragraphs. which includes one paragraph as an introduction and 2 as main paragraphs and at the end, the conclusion is coming. the proposed style will be an essay in about 200- 300 words and it takes 20 minutes to complete it.
first of all, Simon suggests we recognize the type of questions and essay we should consider, whether it is Discussion, Opinion, Problem &solution or a 2-part question.based on any of these 4 types, we can write the proper essay. totally he suggests 2 sentences for introduction, 5 sentences for every 2 main paragraphs and 1 sentence for a conclusion.
to start with the introduction, it is suggested to be in 2 sentences, the first introduces the topic and the other give a general answer. for the 2 main body paragraphs, 5 sentences are suggested for each one. there are two methods to write the body paragraphs, based on the idea we want to develop in each paragraph.
for 2 main body paragraphs; if it is developing "one idea", we do this: idea, explain, example, for example, we present one idea, then give a reason, and then express an opinion. if we want to talk about more than one idea, we use: firstly, secondly, finally. this method is mostly used when we are talking about advantages, disadvantages or problem and solution styles.
In the end, we present our conclusion, it is better to not introduce any new idea there. we give our conclusion in one sentence, it is mostly the paraphrase of the answer that we have presented in the introduction
